What protesters are expecting or demanding in the US? Why doesn't Trump hear the protesters’ demand?
The protesters have no cohesive, pragmatic agenda.
1) end systemic, institutional racism—which doesn’t exist so can’t be ended;
2) stop the killing of black men at the hands of police—when most high profile incidents are suicide-by-cop where the young men like Trayvon, Oscar Grant, Big Mike Brown etc engage in purposeful provocation risking their deaths: attacking armed guard Zimmerman, bashing his head on the pavement (Trayvon);
playing chicken with cops, regarding hands under stomach, thus refusing to be peacefully arrested (Grant); twice attempting to disarm the officer, get his gun to kill him, and bum rush him after saying, palms up, shrugging as in WTF, “What’ya gonna do now, Pig? Shoot me?” and the bum rushing guaranteed he’d be shot dead in the street—suicide-by-cop (Mike Brown).
These are the NORM of these ABERRATIONAL, RARE cases the MEDIA HYPES AD NAUSEUM, leading to the OVER-REACTION by MILLIONS.
3) Prison reform, basically let criminals out, including violent criminals, mostly black & brown men—obviously can’t happen. And shouldn’t. Minorities commit disproportionally higher levels of crime, so of course are incarcerated at higher levels. If young black males didn’t commit over 50% of the nation’s homicides, despite being less than 1% of the US population, they wouldn’t be in prison at such tragically high levels. But such common sense statistics and facts and conclusions can not be allowed by the PC, politically correct, media & most politicians, experts, academia, etc. Can’t even discuss the actual empirical realities.
If we could the hyper-over-reactions would cease, and people could tackle issues more pragmatically, like focusing on getting educated instead of street activist, propagandized & hate-based motivated.
Trump has a hearing defect: he hears only what he wants to hear. Since he’s a racist, one thing he doesn’t want to hear is that the Central Park Five, for whom he once demanded the death penalty, have been exonerated by DNA and the confession of the real rapist.
Another thing he doesn’t want to hear is that police themselves can be lawbreakers because his reactionary base doesn’t believe cops can do anything wrong. The man who claimed he knew more about ISIS than the generals did, and could bring peace to the Middle East in 30 days after his inauguration, is embarrassed by riots in his own country that he’s powerless to stop.
What protesters want? Start with an end to racial profiling. Study after study has concluded that police and the judicial system treat blacks more harshly than whites. When Charles Stuart murdered his wife, and Susan Smith drowned her two little boys, they accused black men of committing the crimes because they were confident they would be believed. Same with Amy Cooper, who felt threatened by Christian Cooper because he asked her to leash her dog; when she called the police, the only description she gave the 911 operator of the man “threatening” her was that he was African American.
They are expecting justice. They are expecting leadership to acknowledge their pain and tell them we will attempt to be a better country.
Trump is to tone deaf, and lacks any redeeming capacity to understand. If I describe him fully, will be censored.
