Is the Ladakh standoff between India and China exaggerated?
It is not exaggerated at all !
The Chinese border forces have occupied a strip of Indian territory- 300 x 18 = 5400 sq km in Ladakh so far all along the Line of actual control all the way just east of Daulat Beg Oldi in the North to the southern shore of the Pangong Tso lake.
It is with a great sense of bitterness and unhappiness that I have to inform my fellow Indians that If the situation continues to deteriorate in this manner - we will end up losing the beautiful lake Pangong Tso which was featured in the movie Three - Idiots to China.
No Indian will be able to visit the shores of that splendid lake anymore.
This is a very serious matter as the.Chinese are gradually pushing the Line of Actual Control Westwards - closer and closer to Leh and it could so happen that Siachen Glacier which forms the Northern most region of Indian Kashmir could be cut-off and the Chinese occupied regions of Kashmir will end up bordering Pakistan Occupied Kashmir with no Indian territory separating them.
If the situation does not return to normal and the Chinese do not vacate Indian land they have occupied, then air and artillery strikes will have to be used to dislodge them and take back the land they have occupied in Kargil-style frontal and double pincer assaults although the terrain to be traversed will be much flatter than what our mountain troops had to hazard in Kargil.
Time is running out and some hard decisions will have to be made very quickly.
Our nation needs to be prepared for a Kargil kind of offensive against China but on flatter land.
In other words we need to prepare for a limited war with the Chinese who think they can nibble away at our territory using sheer intimidation and a show of force.
India will have to mobilize close to 50,000 mountain troops supported by several squadrons of the Indian air-force and also Multi-Barrel Rocket launchers and M777 Howitzers by the dozens very soon.
