Why is Boris Johnson's top aide accused of flouting lockdown rules?

It is because he broke the lockdown rules. And he didn’t just make a minor infringement of them either.
He traveled, whilst knowing that he was infected with the virus whereas the instruction to the plebs was to stay at home and self isolate - even from other family members sharing the same address..
Not only did he travel, but it wasn’t as if he just walked to the local park. Instead, he drove over 250 miles from London to Co. Durham - a journey during which he is almost certainly to have needed to stop.
He traveled, taking his son (who should also have been isolating due to his exposure to the virus),
and when he got to his destination, met with his parents and his sister (something which the plebs are still being told they cannot do). He did all of this, not at a point where the rules had been somewhat relaxed, but instead, back in April when the peak of the crisis was still approaching.
He cannot pretend he was unaware of the rules, because he was, for some unknown reason, at the government’s COBRA meetings, despite being neither a scientist, nor an elected official. The rules will have been well known to him - he just thought they applied to everyone but him.
In the cases of two scientific advisors, who also broke lockdown rules, they both had the moral fibre to resign. In the case of Cummings, he has neither the courage, nor the sense of morality to do so. He should therefore be sacked forthwith.
