“Challenges before women advocates in legal profession and solutions”

In
order to utilize libraries, association halls, etc., she is expected to pay subscriptions to the new association in
her new place of practice. We shall arrange a scheme to pay single subscription
per year for all associations run throughout the state. If a lawyer joined in
any association as a member, she shall utilize facilities in any lawyer
association situates in the state.
Though
a lawyer devoid of savings in her bank account she could the use skill of
advocacy by opting to provide legal aid by becoming a panel lawyer in legal
services authority. But the legal service authority disburses the expenditure
incurred in conducting a legal proceeding to a panel lawyer only after completion
of the legal proceeding. Hence the cost is to be borne by the independent lawyer.
In
spite of her financial constraint she comes forward to provide her acquired
legal knowledge for the needy litigants. Hence such women lawyer may be provided
with expenditure to conduct the case or suggestions to waive the cost of filing
may be proposed to the legal services
authority.
The
facility of typing and xeroxing may be provided with free of cost for legal aid
cases on perusal of assignment paper issued by the legal services authority.
Many lawyers do not have chambers of their own in the court premises. Few
lawyers are managed to open the office of their own with minimum investment.
For
those who start office of their own either on rent or on lease, the financial
support may be provided by the association through “lawyer’s welfare bank”.
(A corpus fund named ‘lawyers welfare bank’ shall be created by lawyers
themselves to address such needs). The lawyer who gets the financial
support as loan (without interest or least interest) may be allowed to repay
the loan in instalments over a period of time.
Generally
house owners deny to rent out their houses to lawyers. The lawyer’s welfare
fund may be utilized to build apartments with minimum comfort which would serve
the purpose of survival. These apartments shall be made available to those
lawyers who could afford to pay the rent.
Lawyers
may be provided with travel allowance on proof of hearing dates of their cases.
It shall be submitted as a suggestion to Honourable Courts that women lawyers
may be provided with a separate room on the entry point of court complexes, so
that they could wear the advocate robes with ease before entering concern court
complex.
The
uniform allowance maybe provided to women lawyers who adhere to dress code in
court premises. Married women lawyers face problems in bringing up their
children. They maybe provided with special savings scheme for the security of
future of their children.
In
order to equip oneself, to do the profession efficiently, women lawyers maybe
provided with the privilege of buying IT gadgets on application of loan (with
least interest) from the lawyer’s welfare bank.
Legal
profession demands tireless focus on every case right from the stage of drafting
to the stage of final order. To ensure concentration one needs adequate food
and good health. In my view I would suggest the legal fraternity to ow a land
collectively, being administered through the lawyer’s welfare bank to provide
groceries, vegetables, fruits etc, and to run
hospitals, schools meant for lawyers.
Social
security of lawyers would be ensured if there are lawyer’s hospital, lawyer’s
canteen, schools for lawyer’s children, etc, as provided to the people of
public servants.
Law
is supreme, because it ensures implementation of democracy in the nation. We
‘the field workers’ in the realm law are deserving life of dignity.
